These are real life scenes captured in a matchbox. The first german matchbox scene dates back to 1905 in the Erzgebirge region and are no longer readily available. The matchboxes that we offer come from the artisan studios of Neuber and Flaht who are two of the very few remaining artisans still practicing this craft. It took us quite some time to find Neuber and Flaht and love their work. The attention to detail, creativity and skill that is required for each of these is inspiring. Everything is handmade and handpainted. They make wonderful collectibles, home decorations or a very reasonably priced gift. We also think they make great wedding favors. We hope you enjoy the wide selection. Each matchbox is approximately 2 x 1.5 inches in size.
